New research project on deliberating peace in Colombia,

funding awarded to Hugo Marcos-Marné

Hugo Marcos-Marne, postdoctoral researcher (GFF) at the chair of Comparative Politics, will be principal investigator of the research project “Talking our way to agreement? Deliberation, citizenship and the implementation of the peace agreement in Colombia,” funded by the Latin-American-Swiss Center (CLS-HSG). The project aims at providing information for policy-makers by creating deliberative spaces for public discussion between former guerrilla members and university students in Barranquilla in the north of Colombia. In addition, deliberation dynamics will be analyzed through discourse analysis techniques, focusing on the interaction between high levels of deliberation and the achievement of agreements in highly divided contexts.
